Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis ' best-known film score is that of Michael Cacoyannis ' Zorba the Greek (1964). Educated at the Conservatory of Patras, Athens Conservatory, and the Paris Conservatoire, he began his career in Paris writing orchestral music and writing scores for ballets, stage productions, and films. Mikis Theodorakis was born in the Greek island of Chios, in 1925. The exact same year that the other great composer of Greece was born in Xanthi, Manos Hatzidakis.
